Overview

THIS IS A HIGH ACUITY 18-bed Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) with patient flow in and out of other Intermediate and possibly critical care units. RN CANDIDATES MUST HAVE A MINIMUM of 2 YEARS INTERMEDIATE / PROGRESSIVE/STEPDOWN experience in medium to large sized facilities. Current Epic experience allows for more flexible ‘start dates’. Previous Critical Care and ventilator experience is helpful. General nurse/patient ratio is 1:3 with some variability. Will float to other IMC settingspossibly with critical care patients,depending on individual competencies. The ‘Sister unit’ to this is 3 West IMC respiratory and does have a limited number of COVID-19 patients. SKILLS and comfort level with step-down patient care would include multiple drips such as: Amiodarone, cardizem, heparin, insulin, and Morphine (for comfort care). Additionally, having a strong comfort level taking care of the Progressive Care patient who may decline quickly requiring emergent intubation is necessary. Vent care not normally required on IMC unit, but previous experience and comfort level with ventilators is helpful with changes in patient status.Epic EMR experience is highly desirable but not necessary.MUST have OK license in hand at time of submission, MUST have ACLS (AHA), and BLS (AHA.)Candidate must be able to pass basic dysrhythmia, basic hemodynamic monitoring and medication exams on first day.
