The Clinical RN functions in a professional and autonomous manner while preparing the surgical patient for their procedure, caring for that patient immediately post operatively, and preparing the patient for discharge. S/he assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, directs and appropriately delegates to professional and ancillary staff the delivery of safe quality care of the surgical patient. The pre-operative RN assures that the patient is appropriately identified, the correct surgical site is marked and all required documentation is available in the chart. The PACU/Recovery Room RN assures that the patient meets the discharge criteria and is safely transported to appropriate destination. Required Certificates BLS, ACLS and PALS.
